RIDING IN WEST CARLETON

Mandatory requirements to ride an ATV include: 

  • Driver's License: You must have a valid Ontario driver's licence (Minimum G2 or M2)
  • Club Membership: Anyone operating an ATV on designated municipal roads or trails must be a valid member of the OFATV with the West Carleton ATV Club.
  • Insurance and Registration: Your ATV must be properly registered with the province, display a rear license plate, and carry valid liability insurance. 
  • Safety Gear: Riders must wear an approved motorcycle helmet and ensure their vehicle has headlights and taillights turned on at all times. 
  • Speed Limits: Maximum speed on the shoulder of the road is typically 20 km/h if the posted speed is 50 km/h or less. If the road's speed limit exceeds 50 km/h, the ATV speed limit is 50 km/h.
